Choose Contentment

Every year during the month of October my mother-in-law starts asking her loved ones for their Christmas lists.

As the end of the month rapidly approaches, she is turning up the pressure because my unfinished list is now delinquent.  She graciously reminds me that she's getting older and "can't possibly shop for items on everyone's list in one day."

She likes to get her shopping done early so she can enjoy the special traditions, the family gatherings, the baking, the laughter, the Christmas program and services at church and the beauty of the holiday season, stress-free.

As a ...

When God Chooses YOU of all people…

Have you ever felt it?

Eyes of fire burning into your skin?

Thoughts of "she's not good enough" or "who picked her to do this job?" leaping from their mind into your heart's space?

What's worse, is already knowing in the depths of your soul, they're right!

You aren't equipped for the job.  You aren't good enough to be there.

You can't help wondering why God would orchestrate such a scenario, choosing you of all people, when clearly there are so many others far more qualified and capable of getting the job done.

Yet the nagging feeling ...

Eliminating the Chaos of the Christmas Season

I can't believe I'm about to say this but, I just finished reading another book on my Kindle.

That's two books in less than two weeks!  I might be onto something here.  It has felt pretty awesome to give myself time for rest and relaxation.  Make no mistake though.  I've had to be intentional about it.

While I was reading this week's book choice, Untangling Christmas by Karen Ehman and ...

A Christmas Kiss Tradition

I love sharing traditions from the heart with my husband and children.

This Christmas season I've added a new tradition, and so far I'm getting an extra dose of smiles and hugs out of it.

Each day, as I reflect on Christ's love for me and my family and look forward to celebrating the birth of our Savior, I've decided to give a special gift of love to those I'm blessed to spend my life with.

This gift is simple, inexpensive, and sweet!

It's a Hershey's Kiss!

When I pack my husband's lunch that he takes to ...

Such A Good Cause! {Princess Training}

A few days ago I posted on my other blog about The Power of Random Acts of Kindness.  And today, I'm in awe of how God has shown me two more beautiful examples just since that post.

The first being the wife of an unemployed man sharing how a surprise monetary gift arrived in the mail - the purpose - so they could purchase a Christmas tree for their family to enjoy.

The second example is a dear blogging friend of mine, Richele of Continue reading...

Glorifying God Through Social Media

Last week I managed to find a good five hours to sit and do nothing.  Well, almost nothing.

I'm fairly certain I'm incapable of just being still for that long when I'm not snuggled up in cozy pj's with a pile of bed covers over me.

Okay, I'll answer your questions my fellow mom friend, because I know you have them.

1)  How on earth did I get five hours of time to sit and do nothing?

Don't ask. {shifty eyes}  Let's just say this free time was a gift from God, and I took it.  All of it.  And ...

25 Days of Christmas Flix

The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of year to create special memories with my family.

One tradition we have is watching lots of Christmas movies.  Or as young, hip, cool folk might call them, Christmas flix!

This year I'm going to strive for a Christmas movie per day.

It might be a stretch, but there's so many great ones to choose from and I hate to miss a favorite.  In fact, a few of these are not meant for little eyes and ears, but will be specifically for the hubby and I after our daughters ...

Thanksgiving Thanks…

I was spending time with my husband, rare time we cherish (even more so) since having children.

And then she screamed...

Bad dreams.  Again.

"Can I sleep with you, mommy?"

It's in that moment when a mix of emotion wells up.  Frustration over losing precious time with my husband, and my heart melting over her sweet, frightened cry for comfort.

I took a deep breath and scooped her into my arms.  As I walked down the hallway to our bedroom her soft cheeks pulled me in for a mommy kiss.

And gratitude overflowed.

Every day I ...
