The Best of Christian SuperMom 2012

Every year I like to take the week between Christmas and the New Year to reflect on (and celebrate) the events of the year past and say a prayer for the year to come.  I encourage you to do the same.  It's an awesome exercise in giving praise to the One who made each day possible.

Here's the best of 2012 in my world.

UnEmployed Faith

The book God led me through writing was self-published in early January.  What a huge accomplishment ...

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 27: Preserving Family Memories}

"I promise that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to your families, to your children, your grandchildren, and others, on through the generations.

Each of us is important to those who are near and dear to us and as our posterity reads of our life's experiences, they, too, will come to know and love us. And in that glorious day when our families are together in the eternities, we will already be acquainted."

Spencer W. Kimball

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 10 – Organized Gift Giving and Party Planning}

When it comes to gift giving, my mother-in-law has always impressed me with her giving heart and sense of organization.  Most impressive to me is not the gifts she finds, but the heart with which she gives them. She gives joyfully before considering her own desires and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.

I love watching her in action. She doesn't wait for a special occasion to arrive before shopping for it.  Instead, her eyes are always open where ever she goes or whenever the TV is running QVC or a catalog ...

Which Path Do You Choose?

The Lord is my Shepherd.

This message is the heart of Psalm 23.  Like a Shepherd cares for his sheep, leading them to food, water, and safety, Our Shepherd, the Lord, leads us.

If we’re willing to listen.

And follow the path He has chosen for us.

Sometimes we think we know the way.  So we jump forward not thinking to ask God if we should.  We chase the path of money, lifestyle, or fame.

We live life “to the fullest” because we don’t want the discomfort of conforming to the perceived stringent Biblical road map God has provided.

When Vacation Isn’t an Option…

I wish our family could afford a real vacation this year, but it's just not in the cards for us.

But that isn't keeping us from having a great Stay-Cation week.  We're having so much fun!   Yesterday we enjoyed an adventurous time exploring at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Science Center and I was able to capture a few fun pictures for this weeks Photo-A-Day challenge.

Let's start with...

Faces

Okay, my husband took this photo, so I can't take credit for it.  But wowza, talk about a bad hair ...

This is the way…”Is it God’s Voice?”

Simple.

So many things in life are just that.

Yet there is one thing we tend to complicate.

God's voice.

{Photo-A-Day Challenge - Day 13 "Simple"}

I think of all the times I've wondered, "Is this God's voice I'm hearing?  Or is it my own selfish desires?  Could it be the enemy trying to distract me?"

Have you struggled to discern God's voice too?

Why do we make it so complicated?

It's not as hard as we make it out to be.

It's simple ...

A Picture of My Favorite Blogs and a New Plan

It's that time again.  A new month of photo challenge.

Given that it's summertime and I'm so busy having fun with the kiddos, I'm switching up my participation in this a little bit.

I love photography and exercising my new found skills with it.  But I struggle to keep up with taking a picture each day and then compiling all of them into a weekly blog post.

So here's my plan.

I'm going to pick one or two pictures each week, compose those into a blog post and share an encouraging story, devotion, how-to, or helpful list to ...

A SuperMom Photography Confession

I have a confession to make.  I know you'll be shocked to learn this, but it's true.

I am not SuperMom!

Or Super Woman.

Or Super Photographer.

Or Super Anything.

But this past week, one thing I was - Super Sick!   So my photographs for the July Photo-A-Day Challenge didn't all get done.   Neither did the laundry, house cleaning, or grocery shopping.  My kids are still alive and happy, so that's a major win!

My husband was an absolute blessing in helping keep our house "held together" when he wasn't ...

A Sneak Peek At The Love Letter He Wrote Me…

Photography can really paint a priceless picture of a moment in time.  And many of us have moments quite worthy of savoring.  Some of them are even incredibly romantic.  That's one of the reasons I'm so happy to be participating in this monthly photo challenge with Barbie of My Freshly Brewed Life.

Each week I'm challenging myself to be aware of opportunities to capture life's treasures.  For inspiration, and in case you'd like to snap along with your ...

Have You Ever Attempted To Take A Self-Portrait?

Photography is becoming a new passion for me.  I love feeling creative energy when it comes to capturing the many precious moments of life.  A while back, I participated in a monthly photo challenge and after taking a break for a month or so, I've decided to participate again.

Just like before, I'm linking up with a dear friend, Barbie of My Freshly Brewed Life for @fatmumslim Photo-A-Day July Challenge.

If you'd like to participate too, here's ...
