Do any of the following statements describe you or how you're feeling?
- I'm curious about becoming a Christian.
- I know I need God in my life, but I don't know where to begin.
- I'm a new Believer.
- I believe in God, but don't live a faith-filled lifestyle.
- I have a strong desire to grow in my Christian faith.
- I don't really know much about scripture, it's confusing and difficult to read.
- I feel like a dummy when people talk about faith.
If you answered yes to any or all of the above statements, this new Walking In Faith series is for you!
The past few weeks, I've really felt God speaking to my heart about using writing as a way of ministering to those new in their Christian faith.
What Qualifies Me To Minister To You?
Absolutely nothing.
Except that I've been there, where you are.
You see, I wasn't raised Christian. My family rarely ever went to church. We didn't read the Bible. We didn't pray together. There was very little, if any, faith talk in our home or life.
Somehow. Someway. God Made His Way Into My World. And I Believed.
However, even after I became an adult and left home, I didn't live the Christian life. God was always there in my heart and in my mind, but I only turned to Him when life got difficult. Otherwise, I was a free spirit determined to live life to the fullest.
Thankfully, that phase was short-lived.
Eventually I learned I wasn't invincible. Bad things could happen to me. Awful things could and were happening to the people I loved.
Anxiety and fear of the unknown overwhelmed my emotions. Life was lacking something. Many things.
Things like...
- Joy
- Peace of mind
- Purpose
- Perspective
I knew God was the answer.
What I didn't know was how to begin a loving walk with Him.
Did I even deserve His time or attention after I had ignored Him for so long?
Of course the answer was Yes! But it took me a long time to understand and believe it.
Still, I had to start somewhere and I was blessed to have people in my life at the time who could answer my questions and guide me.
Honestly, I would have loved to have a resource like this available to turn to on my own though. The people God placed in my life to help minister to me were really helpful, but faith for me was a very private thing back then. It was personal. I was learning and felt embarrassed for not knowing more about it.
While I've gained a wealth of knowledge about Christian faith and God's promises over the past decade or so, I would never claim to know it all. Every day, God teaches me something new. That tells me I'm a constant work in-progress, with much to learn.
But I feel God has equipped me with enough understanding and personal experience that I might turn out to be a helpful resource to you.
That is certainly my prayer.
I want you to feel comfortable and encouraged here. I want you to feel you can ask questions without judgment. I want you to know God loves you and following Him is the most rewarding decision you'll ever make.
This series will be about helping you take steps toward living the Christian life.

I'm so proud of you for following God's leading once again! God bless you!
Thank you, Kelly. I so appreciate your friendship and support. This is kind of scary for me to leap forward with, because I don't know it all. But God's pushing me and I know He'll use it for good and bless others, even if I get what seems to be crickets at the end of each of my posts. Lol!
Lots of interesting topics to cover. I look forward to reading them.

Oh Beth, thank you so much for that prayer! It's certainly my prayer too. But I must admit I'm a little nervous about the series. Totally trusting God on this one.
I remember when Scott was new in his faith so often he felt embarrassed, confused, etc. As the one he was asking questions of the best advice I could give to those in the other seat is listen, let them discover on their own at their own and don't be the expert.
In fact, mind if I blog about this and link back to your blog?

Shannon, I'm fascinated by your comment. Isn't your hubby a pastor now? I love how God works! Thank you for your beautiful wisdom. It confirms to my heart that I don't have to be a know it all to be helpful to someone searching for answers or guidance.
Of course you can blog about it and link back. Thank you so much for your support!
So stinkin' proud of you, friend! To God be the glory.....
and yay!

[...] So why are we so resistant to getting to know our Creator? Maybe because it's uncomfortable. God's word can sometimes be confusing. [...]
