The other night the most amazing thing happened. I'm still in awe of it.
My husband and I usually put our daughters to bed at the same time. He puts one to bed. I put the other to bed. Each night we alternate.
This particular night, he was out of town for work. I had to put the girls to bed on my own and decided we would have a group bedtime routine rather than individual.
Normally I would read their individual devotions to them, but since they're three years apart in age and their devotions are very age specific, I decided to skip the reading and do something a little bit different.
I grabbed the iPad and we snuggled up together. I pulled up YouTube and typed in a search phrase "Christian Kids" not really sure what would come up, if anything. Immediately my oldest daughter tapped on the following video:
Because of all the kids in the video, both of my daughters were completely captivated by it. My youngest can't read very well yet, so she tried to sing along but mostly ended up humming.
My oldest kept saying, "wow, those kids must really love God!" to which I replied, "yes, it looks that way."
Then before my very eyes, without being prompted to or anything, she raised her hands in worship and started singing with them. And then my youngest followed big sister in worship, because she's at the age of monkey see, monkey do.
After that song was over, my oldest picked this song, because we play it in our car all the time and she raised her hands in worship again, singing her heart out to God.
Friends, I was in awe! It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen...my little girls, only 7 and 4 years old worshipping God! So I joined in! What a glorious way to bond with them and say our goodnight's.
I suppose the real test will be whether or not she feels courageous enough to lift her hands in worship during praise time at church.
Have you ever worshipped through song with your children? How has God inspired the hearts of your children? I'd love for you to share your experiences!

That is so beautiful, Rosann! I can just picture you all together praising God. What a special moment!
The other night during our roundtable prayer of thanks, Kenna said she was grateful that she "gets to worship God." That was a sweet moment for me - the phrasing that she "gets to" warmed my heart.

This just gives me chills. It's beautiful. I remember my mom telling me similar stories about myself as a little girl, my own experiences with my little ones... there's just nothing like the Holy spirit moving in a child. Purest of pure. Absolutely beautiful. Lovely post. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much Rhonda! I really appreciate your visit and your comment.

Such a sweet moment. I call them snapshots--I believe God gives them to us and for some reason, we know we're going to hold onto them for a lifetime. Thanks for sharing one of yours with us!

That is wonderful! Until recently we went to a very reserved church. No dancing, hand raising, or anything like that. But, we are now going to a more demonstrative church, and i can't wait to see how our children feel led to worship God. I know our 3yr old is really getting something out of this church because we pull into the parking lot and he says, "I yuv this church!", and when we leave he says, "mommy that the best school ever!"
Nicole, your three year old sounds like a cutie pie! The church my hubby and I used to go to before moving across country was extremely reserved. Our new church has an amazing contemporary worship service with a praise team that lifts their hands to The Lord and gets the congregation really feeling the worship experience. It's awesome!

Oh wow, so precious. I remember when my kids first began displaying their expression of worship before God for all to see (dancing, lifting hands, etc.) We have always tried to have worship times together as a family. When my children were all younger, my husband would grab his guitar and younger kids just learning their instruments and voices cracking, we would all give praise to the Lord! Now, three of my children lead worship in the house of prayer. I am a blessed mama!

This is so wonderful...I would have had TEARS in my eyes! What a super fun Mommy moment (I bet Mark was sad to have missed it!)
We love to play worship music (kids) and just dance around freely
And my boys LOVE to hear their VBS CDs when they ride in my car - it's a special treat (since they don't ride in my car often). My oldest (5 yrs) always asks me to turn it up and says "Oh, Mommy! I know this one!"
