A Letter to My Future Son-in-Law

I know how crazy this sounds. My daughter is only 8 years old, yet here I am writing a letter to her future spouse.

See, the thing is, my husband and I have a nightly routine with our daughters where we pray for them out loud before tucking them into bed. I've recently felt very called to pray for whoever the young boy is out there, that will one day marry my daughter.

So I pray for things like- a good home life as he grows up, a family upbringing as an active believer, a good father who will teach ...

Which Book Cover Would You Choose?

Hey awesome friends,

I'm working on another book project called Refuel Your Inner SuperMom:  A Practical Guide to Getting Your Groove Back.  Do you remember my 31 Days to SuperMom series last October?  Well, this project is that series all compiled into one lovely eBook (Finally! I know some of you have been asking about it...) plus some extra content I'm adding along the way as I build the book.

My goal was to have the book available for purchase by Mother's Day (2013), and while I'm still trying to stick to that timeline, I know myself.  I know I'll ...

What Motherhood Means to Me

Motherhood is the most precious gift the Lord has blessed me with.  Even when I'm feeling tired and weary, I know in my heart my precious children were hand picked by God to be a part of my world.

He orchestrated our family to be together, blessing each others lives with smiles, laughter, kindness, and compassion.  And more!  We aren't a perfect family though.  We each have our faults and quirks that grate on one another's nerves.

My oldest daughter can screech so loud it actually hurts my ears.  As with the sound of nails on a ...

A Little Bit of Sleep Goes a Long Way

Sleep.

Glorious sleep.  A little bit of sleep goes a long way, doesn't it?

This morning I slept in.  Well, if you can consider 8am sleeping in.  For me, it was three extra hours of glorious, awesome, peaceful sleep.

I really needed it and truth be told, I could use a nap while I'm typing these very words.  I've been in such deprivation of lengthy, uninterrupted sleep for months.  It's really taken a toll on this mama who thrives best on 8 hours of sleep each night.

Sleep can make such a difference in our emotional and ...

We Would Love Your Vote: Overwhelmed eBook Cover

As you may know, several bloggers and myself have written an eBook for women struggling with their finances.

Overwhelmed: Hope and Help For the Financially Weary is a personal testament of hardship and hope. While some of the authors are still undergoing financial difficulties, others are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel after many years of prayer and pain.

Dear readers, I know many of you can relate with the deeply raw emotions of financial difficulties.  This book has been written ...

When Prayer Time With Your Child Becomes Challenging

Praying with our children is so important but it can also be challenging at times.  With a 4 year old and a 7 year old, we've seen our fair share of awkward prayer moments.  Here are just a few, with tips on how we've overcome these challenges.  At least, for the moment.

The Wiggles

When my 4 year old gets tired she has a tendency to get a bad case of the wiggles, which can really be distracting (not to mention disrespectful) during prayer.

Maybe your little one has the same problem...

She ...

Through the Eyes of Her 7 Year Old Heart…

I learned something fascinating about my sweet seven year old last night.

She worries!

I've always known her to have a sensitive heart, but to be a worrier....just like her mama?

Even more interesting (and admittedly flattering) was what she was worried about.

It all started while we were reading our Mother/Daughter devotion, which by the way, we LOVE!  {If you click on the image, you can go straight to Amazon for your copy!}

Here was the Bible verse we read together:

Then Jesus said to his disciples:  "Therefore I tell you, ...

Finally, a Book for the Blog at Home Mom…

Many of you have asked me how I do it all.   Motherhood.  Marriage.  Blogging.

If you're a blogger, you know how time consuming living the writer's life can be, particularly when social media is necessary to build a community, promote your efforts, and eventually earn any income from any books or products you might be involved in.

If I'm to be honest, I don't always juggle everything well.

I'm not always 100% attentive to my children and husband when I need to be.  I easily get consumed by writing goals and bringing ...

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a Blogging Vacation

Hi sweet friends!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I'm saying this to you now {rather than on Christmas and New Year}, because I have decided I really need to take a vacation from blogging.

Taking a break of any kind is not something I do easily.  I always feel tugged by endless To Do lists.

Particularly in the Writing/Blogging arena.  I have more ideas brewing than I have time or energy to bring to fruition.  One day...

Right now, I really just need time to be still and present here in my home.

I need to sit ...

Six Prayer Questions Answered

I was praying with my seven year old the other night, as we often do together, and after we were finished she looked at me and asked, "mom, what am I supposed to be doing or thinking when you're saying the words of the prayer?"

Funny how kids often ask the questions we as grown-ups are often too embarrassed to ask.

A while back I had a conversation with a loved one about the importance of praying with his wife.  He admitted being new in his faith and not really knowing how to pray, what to say, ...
