Every year during the month of October my mother-in-law starts asking her loved ones for their Christmas lists.

As the end of the month rapidly approaches, she is turning up the pressure because my unfinished list is now delinquent.  She graciously reminds me that she's getting older and "can't possibly shop for items on everyone's list in one day."

She likes to get her shopping done early so she can enjoy the special traditions, the family gatherings, the baking, the laughter, the Christmas program and services at church and the beauty of the holiday season, stress-free.

Eliminating the Chaos of the Christmas Season

I can't believe I'm about to say this but, I just finished reading another book on my Kindle.

That's two books in less than two weeks!  I might be onto something here.  It has felt pretty awesome to give myself time for rest and relaxation.  Make no mistake though.  I've had to be intentional about it.

While I was reading this week's book choice, Untangling Christmas by Karen Ehman and ...

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 30: Juggling Life as a Blogging Mom}

"Blogging, being a writer mom - it's unbelievably time consuming.  A full time job, with little pay.  Some wonder why I bother with it.  The answer is simple. God planted a passion for writing and encouraging others into my heart and He continually spurs me on.  How can I possibly ignore His gifts and His calling?  No, it's not easy.  It's hard work and rarely do I see proof that the words poured through my fingertips have made a difference.  But I trust God put me on this path for a reason."

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 29: The Value of Going to Church}

Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.

~ Psalm 84:4

I love going to church with my family.  The music is heartfelt and worshipful, prompting my soul to sing out passionately.  The sermon often feels as though it was spoken just for me and my circumstance.  And the fellowship with other believers warms my heart.

While we are commanded not to rely solely on the church to teach our children about Jesus, but to take responsibility and teach them between ...

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 23: Raising Your Children in Christian Faith}

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

~ Deuteronomy 6:5-9

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 20: Making Your Husband Feel Loved}

"The proof that you love someone is not that you have warm affectionate feelings toward them. The proof is in your actions, your words and your sacrifice, your willingness to give the best of yourself and your willingness to get nothing in return."

Katherine Walden

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 13: Managing Your Family’s Health Care}

Over a decade ago, my husband (boyfriend at the time) got an upper respiratory infection that attacked his heart muscle.  Because he didn't realize he had more than just a bad head cold, it went untreated longer than it should have.  When the heart muscle is damaged it loses its ability to squeeze hard during each pump.  The result with my husband was fluid build-up in his lungs and a very difficult time breathing.

A trip to the ER, multiple heart tests and breathing treatments, a transfer to a hospital with a transplant unit, a two week ...

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 12: Time to Clean the House…Bleh!}

I used to be the teenage girl who could care less about keeping a clean bedroom.  I hated doing chores too.

"Mom, why can't we get a dishwasher?" I would complain.

"Because we don't need one.  We have YOU!"

Ugh!  Wasn't that the truth?!

My responsibility was to wash the dishes every day, and on Saturdays mom required the entire family to pitch in and help clean our home.  She worked full time, sometimes two jobs, and she had a system in place to keep order at home, even if that meant her kids had to tough ...

31 Days to SuperMom {Day 11: Having an Organized Home}

You may be noticing much of what it takes to be your best as a woman, wife, and mother is centered around three main points.

  1. Your Relationship with God
  2. The Amount of Heart You Pour Into the Individual Roles of Womanhood
  3. Your Willingness to Be Organized

So far I've covered topics related to having a plan or an organized schedule for optimum focus, joy, health, and efficiency.

You've no doubt heard the saying "home is where the heart is."  Well, dear friend, I truly believe that saying to be true.  A well run home ...
