Celebrate Her Birthday With an Art Party

My husband and I are trying to get to the point where our children aren't expecting some huge birthday party every year. After all, I never had birthday parties and neither did he. It shouldn't be a requirement should it? Planning a birthday party is not only time consuming but costly too. And when you give in and throw a party for one child, you inevitably become obligated to do the same for all other children.

So when the topic arose of how we'd help our daughter celebrate her 8th birthday, I immediately suggested that instead of having a party ...

Which Book Cover Would You Choose?

Hey awesome friends,

I'm working on another book project called Refuel Your Inner SuperMom:  A Practical Guide to Getting Your Groove Back.  Do you remember my 31 Days to SuperMom series last October?  Well, this project is that series all compiled into one lovely eBook (Finally! I know some of you have been asking about it...) plus some extra content I'm adding along the way as I build the book.

My goal was to have the book available for purchase by Mother's Day (2013), and while I'm still trying to stick to that timeline, I know myself.  I know I'll ...

What Motherhood Means to Me

Motherhood is the most precious gift the Lord has blessed me with.  Even when I'm feeling tired and weary, I know in my heart my precious children were hand picked by God to be a part of my world.

He orchestrated our family to be together, blessing each others lives with smiles, laughter, kindness, and compassion.  And more!  We aren't a perfect family though.  We each have our faults and quirks that grate on one another's nerves.

My oldest daughter can screech so loud it actually hurts my ears.  As with the sound of nails on a ...

When Cancer Shakes Our Family…

I was pulling our homemade pizza out of the oven when it happened.

The white and hot pink trim of my phone buzzed around on the kitchen island behind me.   Careful not to burn myself on the round stone, I quickly glanced over my shoulder to see my mom's face on the display.

Hmmm...that's weird, I thought to myself.  I just talked to her about an hour ago.  She doesn't usually call me twice in one day.  This can't be good...

"Hi Mom!"

"Hi, I just received some sad news and wanted to make sure you were aware..."

Through ...

A Little Bit of Sleep Goes a Long Way

Sleep.

Glorious sleep.  A little bit of sleep goes a long way, doesn't it?

This morning I slept in.  Well, if you can consider 8am sleeping in.  For me, it was three extra hours of glorious, awesome, peaceful sleep.

I really needed it and truth be told, I could use a nap while I'm typing these very words.  I've been in such deprivation of lengthy, uninterrupted sleep for months.  It's really taken a toll on this mama who thrives best on 8 hours of sleep each night.

Sleep can make such a difference in our emotional and ...

Super Blogger Spotlight: My Freshly Brewed Life

As we say goodbye to winter (hopefully!) and hello to Spring, I'm thrilled to announce it's time for  a Super Blogger Spotlight shout out.  This month's blogger of choice is truly one of my favorites.

Many of you already know her and if you don't, I hope you'll hop over to her blog and subscribe.  She is one of the most down to earth, authentically real, humble, beautiful hearts I've ever had the privilege of knowing and I pray one day God will arrange an opportunity for the two of us to hug necks and enjoy ...

Faith Leaps: An Interview With Author Alyssa Avant

Today I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 6 of the Virtual Blog Tour for FaithLeaps: The Christian Mom’s Guide to Passion, Purpose and Profits by author Alyssa Avant. On the last stop of the tour, Alyssa visited Heather Hart’s blog at Servant, Wife, Mother.

Below is the great interview I did with Alyssa about FaithLeaps.

What exactly is passion?

As I say in the book, “According to Dictionary.com, passion is a noun meaning any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling. When we’re passionate ...

Loud Time With the Lord

Please welcome my guest today, Katie Phillips.  Blogging over at Operation: Leap of Faith, Katie has a beautiful gift for storytelling.  I was captivated by her words when I first read this.  And I could totally relate with her experience.  Take a look!

...

My quiet time lately has been ridiculous. And by ridiculous, I mean, it's been loud. It should be called "loud time" with the Lord. Loud, rambunctious, non-quiet quiet time.

Part of it is my own fault, really. I could get up earlier. I tend to be a snooze button ...
