Fun Birthday Party Games

I was recently contacted by Lisa from The Party Works asking if I'd have an interest in a guest post related to birthday parties.  Well, since I have two little girls and you have children too, I thought this would be a great topic of interest to publish here.   Please welcome my guest, Lisa!

Throwing a birthday party for one of your little ones can be a blast.  Baking the cake isn’t a big deal, and inviting the guests and figuring out what to feed them isn’t a big deal either.  Usually the only part of the party ...

Flowers Growing In Concrete?

Remember, I'm new to this thing called gardening.

Woo Hoo!

Does anyone know what these are called?

How is your gardening growing?

Praising God

Between the blessings of warmer than usual Spring temperatures and precious moments to spend with my children and husband, I'm starting the week off by continuing to count my gifts, recognizing just how much God loves me and provides every need.

#160 -  The gorgeous flowering trees that bloom during Spring time here in Pennsylvania.  God provides such beauty in our surroundings.

#161 -  Those bright, eye-catching, blue wings on the Bluebirds living in the trees behind our house.  They are seriously breathtaking!

#162 - The clean scent of rain.

#163 ...

How Did I Let This Happen?

I love Spring.  Don't you?  Everywhere I look outside, I see new life and a certain delight in the air.

  • Baby birds singing in our yard.
  • Easter lily's popping up through the earth.
  • Leaf buds forming on the trees.

Even from indoors, the beautiful sun shines through my windows and it's glorious.

This morning, I couldn't help feeling like I was in the middle of one of those Disney Princess movies where the princess is singing and dancing and the forest animals are too.  For the full effect, I leaned over my kitchen sink to push the ...

Good Photography Doesn’t Just Happen

I love my new photography hobby, but I still have so much to learn.  This week I'm realizing that good photography doesn't necessarily just happen whenever we want.  To improve the opportunity of capturing a great photograph, things such as lighting, mood, and background should be considered.   This may take a little bit of planning and creativity.

For example, my house has a lot of windows, but they are all covered with mini blinds and aren't really very big.  I'm finding the pictures I love most are those where sunlight or natural light is shining in the background of ...

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Can I tell you how excited I am?  And why?

I'm going to start adding gardening posts to this website!  If I'm truly striving to become more of a Christian SuperMom, aka the Proverbs 31 woman, then gardening needs to be a part of how I care for my family.  Not only will it save us money from having to purchase over-priced produce, but it will also provide us the freshest fruits and veggies, while also allowing me the opportunity to can and store the excess for use later on.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day

In my quest to be supermom, I have developed a fun habit of making a pretty big deal about almost every holiday known to man.  I totally drive my husband crazy with it.   The kiddos love it though, which makes all the planning and effort worth it.

Well, this year they may be a little disappointed about St. Patrick's Day.

You see, I've decided to reward myself with some much needed mommy time.  The weekend of St. Patrick's Day, my church is hosting a women's retreat and I'm ...

What Joy Looks Like

I am blessed.

You are too!

So many days have come and gone where I didn't feel like life was treating me fairly.  Hard times seem to happen more frequently, the older I get.  Sometimes I find myself so upset over something that I could literally vomit.  What's worse is looking back over it later on realizing I was an emotional wreck over something that wasn't really worth getting all fussed up about.

Can you relate?

Yes, it's real life.  Not always easy to face.  Often times scary, as we wonder what 's next.  It's easy to become consumed in ...

Take It Seriously, Then Reward Yourself

Three 30-minute sessions per week was all the exercise I could muster at the time.  I'd just given birth to my 2nd child only 8 weeks earlier.  I was sleep deprived, hungry, nursing, and had a bad case of mommy brain going on as I learned to navigate life with two children.

Still, I was painfully aware the extra baby weight wasn't shedding off as easily as it did after my first child was born.  This time it was holding on to my thighs, rear, and tummy with stubborn resolve.  I was trying not to be impatient, but I ...

How To Control Mountains Of Artwork

My child is a dumpster diver.  I say this with love, but it's true.  As much as I love her 14 pages of scribble art (from just one hour ago), I can't possibly keep all of them.  She's only three.  If I keep every masterpiece she creates over the next 15 years, I'll no doubt qualify to be featured on the TV show Hoarders.

So I keep what I can, displaying them on the fridge and walls and in piles here or there until it all starts to drive me crazy, and when she's not looking I throw them ...
